Searching the beach with metal detectors is an excellent way to find coins and gold or silver jewellery that has been dropped by beach day trippers etc. Even broken bracelets or necklaces in 9carat or 18carat gold are well worth finding for the price of the gold as scrap alone. And you never know you might find an expensive diamond ring or at least a few dollars in dropped coins :)

Yes, those devices can be very useful. The reason they are not permitted in Sweden is that they may be used by treasure hunters to rob archaelogical sites, which we have plenty here.

Hi Rick,

If you can't hook up with any club members, there are some excellent forums on the web to post your questions to.

Just Google metal detecting forums and you'll see quite a few. I like treasurenet and findmall.

Findmall has many groups for specific metal detectors, so you should find plenty of answers and tips there.

Enjoy you DFX!

Bounty Hunter is one of the best brand about metal detector but I also recommend White's detector, both are great!

Normally for me, when I am choosing a detector, I will look for upgradeable types, which I personally feel is one of the most important criteria. Image after sometime, when the detector needs upgrade but you can't.

Next comes the battery life which I perferred 24-hours type. Well, depends on individual, whether do you use it that long when you are using it.

Both points Bounty Hunter and White's metal detector can provide me with that capabilities, Happy Treasure Hunting!

It has to be very exciting being a part of an archaelogical dig.

I remember seeing a story about Custers Last Stand on History Detectives and all of the new information they found. It pretty much rewrote the history of that event.

Keep those stories coming!
